Jean Gesner Henry (May 10, 1925 - January 29, 1998), popularly known as Coupé Cloué, was a Haïtian singer, guitarist, and bandleader. He was known for defining a style of Haïtian compas music he called kompa mamba, and for the sometimes bawdy innuendo used in his songs. During his career, he was one of Haïti’s most prominent musicians, and found much success in West Africa as well.

El-A-Kru is a prominent Soca band in Antigua. The name derives from Little Antigua Crew . Expose, the video below from the Antigua Nice album, topped MTV Tempo’s Cross Caribbean Countdown for several weeks in 2007. The band was also nominated for the Overall Soca Band of the Year at the 2007 International Soca Awards.

Lord Kitchener (April 18, 1922 - February 11, 2000) was one of the most internationally famous calypsonians. Born Aldwyn Roberts in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, he moved to England and became extremely popular there. His fame continued throughout the 1950s, when calypso achieved international success. Later, he moved towards soca, a related style, and continued recording until his death.
Krosfyah - Sak Pase

Krosfyah is a Soca band from the Caribbean island of Barbados. They are best known for their hits Road Jam, Pump Me Up, and Sak Passe. Formed in 1989 by Edwin Yearwood, this band is probably one of the most known and successful Soca bands of the Caribbean.

Kevin Lyttle, born Lescott Kevin Lyttle Coombs on September 14, 1976, is a soca artist hailing from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, who had a worldwide hit with the interpellative soca ballad “Turn Me On“, which was recorded by Lyttle and the dancehall artist Spragga Benz. The song was previously recorded by Lyttle and Vincentian soca star MaddZart and produced by Adrian Bailey. Enjoy the video of the said song below.

I love this song by Stephen Marley. Its very original as well just gives us this good vibe and good felling that is often missing from what we need in music. The song is so hot. It sounds like an extended freestyle that just kept going and going. This is one of my favorite songs by him.

Eddy Grant is a British reggae musican that was born in Guyana. Back in 1982 he had his first solo hit “I don’t Wanna Dance” which spent 3 weeks at number one on the UK singles chart. His video featured below, “boys in the street” has a very rock and roll, 1980’s feel to it. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.

Musician Zion is from Puerto Rico and has a hit song out now, “The Way She Moves” with Hip Hop Artist AKON. Alocate is one of his other hot songs and has a very good reggaeton vibe.
